you know those sub-pinhead sized orange-red spidery things (mites?) that zoom around with incredible speed?
that's one of them, relaxing on a radiator magnification 7:1 (cower, mortals!!! )
the viewfinder was so dark that i had to tape a led-light above it to be able to see enough to focus
the strange shadows that are not only under the legs, but also around the legs from the viewer's perspective and which look like i messed up touching up the background are original, i have no idea why
i tried a 7 frame shift-focus composite to increase the DOF, but gave up after 3 hours
the blur in all my macro shots is getting on my nerves
today i also made some makeshift extension tubes to use the inverted 50mm f/1.4 for higher magnifications, because i want to use a sharper lens for stuff like this, but for 4:1 i ended up with a half-meter construction that was collapse-prone, impossible to aim and incompatible with my macro flash tube
seems like there's no way around the Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro for quality high magnification shots, but wouldn't it spoil all the fun of trying?
wow, I've always wondered what they looked like up close lol. Awesome picture, do you just have the blur in your really really close shots or all of them? Well the picture if awesome anyway, great shot
I am certainly impressed. That really is one ugly bastard. I'm especially impressed that you managed to get the focus on the body, leaving the fade off on the legs.
woah this is awesome, the contrast and the fact that it is a tiny little spider you wouldent normaly see is part of what makes this peice so attractive, the lighting that goes through the spider is amazing.
and the blur dosent detract that much from the picture itself.it just makes you focus on the back of the spider and the eye relaxes there.
If this is what I think it is, it is a red mite, not a spider. Pretty close systematically, but not the same thing.
And those are incredibly tiny and so fast I've got troubles following them with my eyes, let alone the camera. Quite impressive.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!

Lets start with the bears in the air ..
but i guess i can't expect wonders from inverting a zoom instead of using a macro prime
